Lincoln Theatre - The city is in the process of identifying a use for the Lincoln Theater. Goals of the RFI are to have the Lincoln Theater operational and active year round, while maintaining the historic character and use of the building as a performance venue. Depending on the use of the space and its loading requirements, there may be an opportunity to develop the parking lot behind the Lincoln Theatre.

Source Theatre - The Source Theatre is being bought out by a cultural group that will use the sspace as a multipurpose, rental theatre for a number of small, local theatre groups. The city and the IRS is working with the Source Theatre on resolving the money owed in taxes.

Rumors around U Street:-Ernest questioned whether the Reeves Center is for sale-Potential retailers at Union Row may be Trader Joe’s and/or CVS-There will be no CVS at the Mason’s building at 10th and U, but another tenant is in negotiations for leasing the space

  • View 14 Traffic Control Plan

-Jon Kardon presented the construction traffic control plan for View 14. Construction at the site is scheduled to begin in December and will last for two years. Major impacts of the plan include closing one northbound lane on 14th Street to construction traffic only, and closing the sidewalks around the perimeter of the site to pedestrian traffic. Ernest suggested that the plan incorporate the plans for Parcel 34, 1330 Belmont, and 2400 14th Street. In addition, Ernest suggested that the sidewalk on Florida Ave. be opened at night and closed during work hours. Richard Fishman suggested that the construction traffic lane on 14th Street be opened to regular traffic during non-work hours. Richard motioned that CSNA oppose the View 14 traffic control plan. CSNA voted against the opposition of the traffic control plan by a vote of 4 – 1 – 4. Level 2 Development will meet with DDoT, other neighborhood associations, and the ANC prior to returning to CSNA at the November meeting.
